Roman amphitheater Tarragona as it was in Roman times Tile mosaic of Medusa's head. Impressive tones comprised of bits of tile made ~2000 years ago... Roman sculpture for fertility. Can you spot the face Inside the Roman walls
The dark sands of the Almerian beaches The optical illusion pavement that rolled like waves when you walked on it (and stared at it...) Yay for warmer weather!! We reversed the car up to the beach and ate dinner to the sunset The never ending rows of wind turbines (intermingled with solar farms) throughout Spain First views of Sierra Nevada We awoke to snow!! Who's idea was it that antifreeze wouldn't be needed now we were heading south?!?! Kayla all geared up to climb mountains Our first views of Granada on the climb up Cerro Huenes We were being hunted by mountain goats Our car is down there Getting close to the top and the van looks sooo little (this is zoomed in) 150m from the top and the car is just visible The other peak we didn't climb up The really big mountains in the distance. Ours was about 2000m (we started climbing from about 1200m). The largest peak is over 4000m and requires a level of expertise we didn't have. One of the many terraces within the Citadel A small (and one of the less intricate) examples of paving using only stones and moss View of the main palace and fort from the general life i.e. Palace the royalty went to when the wanted some downtime. One of our first looks at the intricately carved walls within most of the buildings. The detail and variety was amazing especially considering it was all done by hand. They didn't teach that in woodwork class One of the royalty going for a leisurely stroll Stairway containing channels for water to run down railing. Another shot of the Palace and fort yet to be visited These grounds would have been a gardeners dream and the place would look even more amazing in spring The mote A small shop on the way where woodcarvers create intricate mosaic chessboards and tables (on the left) The frist rooms of the Palace Navaries View of Granada from a window city The carved inscriptions were usually praises to God The ceilings were so intricately carved that we wondered if it was to force you to look up to God Inner court yard Many panelled doors offering different views of the court yard The fort Views of the Sierra Nevada ranges from the fort Cool building in Granada Some guy relaxing far below on the wall View of the fort from the highest point
View of the village as we are arriving. Cool cloud formations that were rolling over the peaks Escalator to the beginner area :) A small part of the heavily pot holed road we ended up going down. Horse and cart outside of an unknown town we drove through Road block outside Casablanca where the locals made their own detour... Sand storm outside Marrakech Fifi got a little sandy Our room in the riad. View from the rooftop terrace View from the terrace while sleeping with your eyes open One of the simple but fantastic breakfasts provided Entrance to the medina Our little nomad campsite
